WHO ARE WE

 

Bal Vihar of St. Louis, Center for Indian Cultural Education is a non-profit,volunteer based  K-12 school for children of Indian origin.

Students learn all aspects of Indian culture including philosophy, values, religion, history, geography, art, traditions and festivals.

The idea is to help students uncover their cultural identity and its application in their life and the multicultural society they live in.

Bal Vihar Youth are involved in many community activities that consolidate their sense of community responsibility and integrating multi-cultures.

They take the lead in projects such as CANstruction, an interfaith project at the St Louis Science Center.  They raise funds for the water crisis around the world via the Walk for Water project. 

Yoga, the supreme gift of India to the world at large.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA

Yoga offers a simple, accessible and inclusive means to promote physical & spiritual health and well-being. It promotes respect for one’s fellow human beings and for the planet we share. Yoga does not discriminate; to varying degrees, all people can practice, regardless of their relative strength, age or ability.

 

On 11th of December 2014, the United Nations proclaimed 21st of June as International Day of Yoga by resolution 69/131.

 

International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga.

 

The draft resolution establishing the International Day of Yoga was proposed by India and endorsed by a record175 member states.
